In week 5 of the WFFL, the Champcast Waves were defeated by the Molar Majority. We were bascially screwed, when Colts RB Joseph Addai was listed as inactive due to a shoulder injury just prior to his 1pm (PST) game. Naturally, Waves General Manager, Gabe, made the lineup adjustment for the team and benched Addai for the backup Colts RB, Kenton Keith, imitating the Colts change. Although the Waves lost the game regardless, we received this nasty email from the league commissioner:
(email received 10.07.07/11:25pm)
(my remarks added 10.08.07/9:30am)
Gabe & Jay,
You CANNOT be adjusting rosters AFTER the fact:
How about, “You cannot adjust the roster after the fact:”Look below at your lineup update time - WAY after the 10:00am cutoff time.
No kidding, we made the adjustment prior to the 1pm start time of the game and naturally 1pm comes after 10am.PLUS, I was monitoring as usual ALL DAY LONG - and you still had Addai in there at RB.
ALL DAY LONG! SO WHAT! And yes, again, Addai was ON our roster up until BEFORE the start of his 1PM(PST) game. So he was there for at least half of your DAY on the couch. This is NOT flying with me guys - we talked about this already last week about ADJUSTING
FUTURE lineups - that you already know affects the CURRENT lineup.
All we did was change a player on our roster who was injured and replaced him with his own backup from the same team in the same position and before the start of the game. Net result, NO EFFECT on the CURRENT lineup.I am reversing Keith for Addai and adding in Berrian’s 2 pts since you left out your #2 WR.
Please DO NOT let this stuff happen AGAIN - I will NOT stand for it guys!! Do it right or don’t play at all!!!
It didn’t JUST HAPPEN, it was just a regular move to help our team, a move that is made thousands of times each Sunday. And had we known about a 10am rule then we would have made the change earlier instead of PRIOR TO START OF THE GAME. Here’s a suggestion, lock the system up so if the rules really state, no roster moves after 10am, then it will not allow you to make a change after the cutoff time. As far as we’re concerned, our move to replace an injured player with his backup was within the rules of this league and EVERY OTHER FFL.Commish Kev
Boooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
Here’s the official Waves’ response to the league from General Manager of Football Operations, Gabe;
(sent 10.08.07/10:25am)
To League Commisioner Kev,
We’ll take the loss this week, I put Keith in there as soon as the news broke, and moreover, before his game started. This is part of fantasy management. This is why you wake up in the morning, or you pay attention and do your fantasy research. Right?
Are you insinuating that I became a hacker in my sleep or sumpn? I can’t tap into the fanstar database, and set my permissions any differently than anyone else? Why would our team have any special permission? I don’t get it. We shouldn’t be penalized for making good moves (starting Bowe or Keith). You should penalize everyone else as well.
So to clarify, in this league, no one is allowed to touch their lineups after 10am period. So, even if you have a player that is a gametime decision, you have his backup, you CANNOT opt for the guy who’s playing? A manager cannot choose his if they have a 1:00, 4:00, 5:00 or Monday night game? This shouldn’t even be an issue, anyway. How ever you feel it suits you best, configure the system that way in Fanstar. This way it’s not even possible for anyone to make any changes past whatever time you want, period. Why is this even an issue? I’ve never seen this issue come up in any other league, ever. If I could change my lineups “AFTER THE FACT” then why wouldn’t I put in all my best scorers every week?! It does not make sense.

To familiarize myself with the rules of this league I went to the official WFFL website to download them. The rules page was blank. I’m not sure what to do at this point, because I’m afraid anything we do to give ourselves the upperhand that is legal in every other league maybe against the rules here. Whatever the future holds for our team, I would like to stress that we here at AllegedlySpeaking.com and ChampCast.com strive for excellence, sportsmanship and fairplay and will continue in our pursuit of these goals without end.

The Warrior Special

While wrapping up last weeks edition of AllegedlySpeaking.com, I sent an email to Warriors Radio Analyst, Tim Roye, recommending Giovanni’s world famous White Shrimp Truck. Here was his reply:
Jay,
Outstanding recommendation!! I had tried
a shrimp plate at one of the other shacks but Giovanni’s was great and just another reason for me to love the islands. Thanks for the tip, Go Warriors and Aloha.

Check out the raw videotape footage of a Warrior’s inter-squad scrimmage. They look awesome. There’s even a short B.D. interview in the middle.
In case you missed Troy Hudson’s last second shot that put the Warriors over the Lakers in their preseason contest, here it is:
…and here’s the latest entry in Jim Barnett’s Training Camp Video Blog:
And in their second preseason game against the Lakers on 10.11.07, the Warriors won convincingly 199 to 106. Even though the W’s sat Baron, Harrington, Biedrins and Ellis and Kobe still played for the Lakers, the Lakers still didn’t have a chance. This might be a long season for the Lakers this year.
’til next Sunday…
