…hey everybody, I just thought we would start the next year of AS.com with a new look…
THE WAR IS OVER
Last Tuesday, Toshiba announced it would stop making and marketing HD DVD players and recorders. The announcement comes four days after WalMart said it would stop selling HD DVD discs and players by June and one month after Warner Bros. announced it was switching to Blu Ray exclusively. Now there’s no excuse not to have that PS3 that you’ve always wanted. Start collecting those BRD’s.
Here’s the 4-1-1

…so what are you waiting for…
The Comeback Dog

Television insiders are reporting that the hit A&E program, Dog the Bounty Hunter, will be returning to the Network lineup soon. And why not, it was only the number one rated show on the network. According to inside sources, since the show was about second chances, the network accepted Duane “Dog” Chapman’s apology regarding a racial slur that he was recorded as saying in a phone conversation. A spokesperson for the Chapman family has confirmed that filming would be starting soon.

Hey, we’re still here after one year. Cool huh? I know the news has been trickling in little by little, but I think this is the time of year where everybody just buckles down at work (make the money) or takes care of family matters(like new babies, pregnancies, taxes, home repairs, wedding planning, etc. etc.). As the weather starts to get better, the family get togethers will start to pick up.
Here’s our very first post from exactly one year ago today and for effect I brought back the old style and theme from that day!!;
Here is the family blog. You can post your rants and raves and replies to a particular posting. In order to post, you’ll need to log-in and make your post. (see Jay or Gabe for the admin log-in). Anyone can comment on someone’s post. You don’t have to have the log-in to leave a comment about what someone said.
Stay tuned for Jay’s watercooler sessions.

A friend of mine forwarded me this blog, and I must say, it’s pretty entertaining for any Warrior’s fan. Especially if you’re a gurl.
Love,
Das

Yesterday, the NBA had it’s yearly popularity contest, the “All Star” Game. I’m not sure why they even call it a game…it’s just a bunch of guys running up and down the court shooting 3’s and dunking. Wait a minute, that kinda sounds like the type of game the Warriors play. Surely, the Dubs have to have 2 or 3 players in this type of “game”, right? WRONG. Because of the ridiculous way the players are selected to be on these teams…the Dubs 2 best players had the worst chances of making the team because of prejudice.
To be a member of the team, you need to either be selected by the fans via popular vote or by the head coaches from each team in your conference. There are only 12 players per team.
Baron Davis was robbed this season…probably because Coaches Karl (TEAM USA) and Scott (New Orleans) remember a Baron that we in the Bay Area are probably not familiar with. And Stephen Jackson, well he will never get the benefit of the doubt. At least not yet, but if he maintains his positive attitude, that may change.
This years All Star team selection was a slap in the face to all Bay Area basketball fans, who have remained faithful with their team through THE worst years that ANY NBA franchise has EVER had to go through. And to have an All Star team starter whose team has only won 9 games this year and to play the All Star game in a city that can barely get 15,000 fans to a game when their team leads the entire conference. What a joke.
So instead of watching the stupid game, I spent the Sunday afternoon dreaming about Hawaii which is about 6 months away.

On Wednesday, February 6, I had my day in court…Finally! It took like 6 months for this day to come, but it was now here. Just to see the court process from the “other side”, I decided to bring nothing that would tip anyone off that I was from law enforcement. I only brought my driver’s license, some cash and one credit card. I arrived at the court house about 15 minutes early and waited in the hallway with about 75 to 100 other people waiting for the same court room to open. This was probably the most relaxed I have been in court in a long time, since there was really nothing I needed to live up to. I was just a regular person trying to beat a traffic violation citation that I never committed in the first place. Everybody else looked like they were in deep thought, thinking out what they were gonna say to the commisioner.
The commissioner probably heard about 30 red light camera tickets before reaching mine. And it made me feel good to hear him dismiss all but 2 tickets. His most common reason for dismissing the tickets was due to a shadow on the windshield obscuring the photo of the driver.
Then the Traffic Commisioner called my name. He brought up the traffic camera photo with the violation that I was being charged with. After several minutes, he said I was not the one in the photo and dismissed the citation.
The whole experience was rather anti-climatic for me…whole lotta build up, followed by silence, then the magic word “dismissed”. The commissioner did however leave some advice for everyone, that I will pass on here…”In [this area] there are a lot of traffic light cameras, at least one at every major intersection. In the future, do yourself a favor….. always wear big dark sunglasses, a big hat, and keep your head hidden behind the sun visor and I will dismiss your citation everytime.”
Good advice.

18 - 1
In a stunning upset, the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, 17 to 14. Here are a couple of my thoughts about the game.
* Worst first 3 quarters followed by the best last 5 minutes.
* I really found myself conflicted with who to root for in this game because of all the implications it had on history…
* With the Pats losing…the 49ERS still have the undefeated Super Bowl appearances and Joe Montanta is still the greatest QB ever. Unfortunately, with them losing though, the ‘72 Dolphins remain the only team in NFL history to have a perfect season. I really wanted that record broken…if for anything but to shut the remaining members of the team up. They’re annoying.
* John Travolta, nice hair. I know you’re probably filming a movie or something, but if that’s the case and you’re hair is in that kinda shape you should know that the Super Bowl is watched by half of the world. Stay home.
* Note to NFL Commisioner…LOSE THE ROMAN NUMERALS at the end of the Super Bowl logo. Just start using regular numbers already.
* Michael Strathan…2 words for you buddy…Speech therapy.
* Randy Moss…hahahahahaha.
* NFL season over, bring on the NBA…(NHL, nobody watches that anyway).
The 2008 Pinewood Derby
Evan’s Cub Scout troop held it’s annual Pinewood Derby classic. Check out how Evan’s entry into the derby went. If you’ve never heard of the Pinewood Derby…all car’s must be made from a block of Pinewood and can’t be over 5 oz in weight. Evan’s car did well placing in 1st and 2nd during multiple races. He made it to the semi-finals but lost in a very close race.
Kickball is Coming
We wanna try to get in at least one practice before the tournament. Start getting in shape.
