Happy Thursday everybody (it’s my “Friday” at work so happier for me I guess). Anyways, it’s Day 4 of George Carlin week and I have another Carlin Classic for you. In this clip, George talks about the differences between baseball and football. This routine is so good and requested so often that he incorporated it into his latter performances.
The Difference Between Baseball and Football

The Worry Warrior

Okay so Ronny Turiaf of the Lakers signed the Warriors offer sheet yesterday. The contract is worth about $17 million for 4 years. Since he is a restricted free agent the Lakers have 7 days (6 now) to match the offer. Although the Lakers have made it known publicly that they will resign Vujacic and Turiaf this offseason, I’m gonna go out on limb and say they will not match the offer. Why? Because, the Lakers will first have to match the Warriors at $17 million, then they have to fork out an additional “tax” penalty payment of $17 million, because Laker salaries already exceede the NBA Luxury Tax. The tax payment is then distributed to the other teams in the league. Last season there were only eight teams that exceeded the Luxury Tax salary limit set at $67,865,000 per year. They were the Knicks, Mavericks, Cavaliers, Lakers, Suns, Celtics, Heat and Nuggets. The Warriors need Turiaf’s size and strength to shore up their defensive. The Laker’s already have Mihm, Mbenga, Odom, and Radmonovic to do that.
Meet Ronny Turiaf
(Ethel hates this guy-but she hated Fisher before he joined the Warriors)
I added this next video to show Ethel how cool Ronny Turiaf can be. It shows him and Mbenga rolling up in their expensive cars to the Villa Lounge in West Hollywood, a real trendy socal spot, only to get denied at the door. As you watch this video, picture other athletes in this same situation and how they would react (Ron Artest? Pac Man Jones? Jamaal Tinsley?). Keep in my mind that these guys play for the Freakin’ LAKERS and they can’t even get into this place in Hollywood! Ronny, if you’re reading this, I can guarantee with absolute certainty that this would never happen to you in Oakland. And, if it ever does, you’re welcome at my house anytime for a beer and some NBA TV.
I know, I know…now that you love this guy, he’s probably not gonna be a Warrior. We’ll just have to wait and see.
