I do…

HPIM3245
Yesterday, Ethel and I, attended the wedding of her good friend and former co-worker, Noel, as she married her partner of 22 years, Barbara. The ceremony and reception was held at the secluded Wildwood Acres Resort in Lafayette. To get there you have to drive down a one lane private road for quite a distance until you hit a dead end and then you’ll find yourself at the resort. This place is so deep into the Lafayette hills it feels like your hours away from home. Luckily, we made it there just as they were starting the procession.
HPIM3249
The cermony was was held in the upper deck garden area of the resort and easily looked like 150 to 175 people were there.
HPIM3250
Afterwards, the reception was held just down the hill from the cermony. The alcohol was flowing pretty good for a Sunday afternoon wedding…and Ethel and I did our part to sample some of the stock behind the bar.

Congratulations Barb and Noel…Thanks for a great party.

Artie is coming to San Francisco!!!
lange
So I’m guessing I’m the only one out here who knows who Artie Lange is so allow me to introduce you to him. Some people were introduced to him when he was on MADTV…but I never watched that show because I felt it was just another late night rip off of Saturday Night Live. I first heard about Artie when he was the temporary replacement for Jackie(who quit) on the most syndicated morning radio show, The Howard Stern Show. Known for his quick wit and outrageous but true personal stories, he soon became a regular cast member on the show.
Since moving to Sirius Satellite Radio, The Howard Stern Show, has become censorship free and has given Artie the freedom to speak his mind in whatever manner he chooses. If you’re a true Howard Stern fan or a New Yorker at heart, go see him. This is a rare San Francisco appearance for Artie. I have my tickets already!

Artie will be performing at the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco on September 19, 2008 at 8pm. For Tickets click here.

An ASTV Classic…

Happy Friday everybody! Gabe, Paul, Rod and I have the WFFL draft tomorrow so I’ll let you know how we do. Until then how about an AllegedlySpeaking TV classic to end this week right…

I think it’s hilarious that no one notices the yelling…we are all used to it I guess.

A Letter from a Fan
Journey Revelations
I received an interesting comment yesterday regarding the article about Journey Rockin’ Tahoe. The comment came from one of our fans living in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) in the Middle East, who goes by the screen name “ARABMAN”.

TO THOSE SO CALLED DIE HARD FANS OF JOURNEY…STEVE PERRY IS NOT JOURNEY!!! A TRUE JOURNEY FAN WOULD NEVER BASE THE AMOUNT OF SUPPORT THEY WOULD GIVE TO ONE PARTICULAR MEMBER OF THE BAND..IN FAIRNESS TO MR. ARNEL PINEDA. HE IS A GREAT MULTI-DIMENSIONAL SINGER WAY BETTER THAN STEVE PERRY..HERE IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES WHERE IN PEOPLE OF MULTI NATIONAL ORIGIN WORK AND LIVE TOGETHER SUCH AS INDIANS,EGYPTIANS,AUSTRALIANS,BRITISH,FILIPINOS,CHINESE,LEBANESE AND EVEN ARABS ,WHOLE HEARTEDLY ACCEPTED MUSIC FROM THE WEST PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF THEIR SENTIMENT ABOUT THEIR FELLOW ASIAN(ARNEL PINEDA) WHOM THEY FOUND AS A HUMBLE AND DOWN TO EARTH GENTLEMAN THAT HAS INSPIRED THEM IN MANY WAYS AND FINALLY APPRECIATING THE MUSIC OF JOURNEY..JOURNEY’S POPULARITY JUST SKY ROCKETED TO THIS PART OF THE WORLD THANKS TO ARNEL..ASIA IS THE LARGEST CONTINENT IN THE WORLD AND CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT ASIANS WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT THEIR FELLOW ASIAN, I CANT IMAGINE HOW MANY LEGIONS OF NEW FANS FOR JOURNEY HAS EMERGED..MY COLLEAGUES AT MY WORK MOST ARE ASIANS ARE PART OF THAT LEGION OF NEXT GENERATION OF JOURNEY FANS..DONT BE MISTAKEN THOUGH..I REALLY LOVE STEVE PERRY BUT ARNEL PINEDA IS JUST TOO DAMN AWESOME!!! WAY TO GO JOURNEY!! MORE POWER AND HOPING THAT THEY COULD HAVE A CONCERT HERE IN THE MIDDLE EAST..JOURNEY ROCKS!!

In the year 2000

I love the “In the Year 2000″ bit that Conan and his guests do from time to time. This has been a running gag with the show for years (pre-millenium), starting when Andy Richter was still Conan’s sidekick, and Conan has kept it going well past The Year 2000…

Here’s the latest episode with guest Seth Rogan.

Lazy Sunday

Just another lazy Sunday here…
I took a little break from the blog this past week as I tried to get back into the swing of things at work. Since I was busy writing before and during the Hawaii trip, I figured now would be a good time to take a little break from here.

This week will be crazy busy at work again, but hopefully I’ll be able to get something out. In the meantime, I’ve got a couple of my favorite comedy clips to share this week.

I’m hoping next Sunday to get Sunday’s with Mel launched, so stay tuned. I’m also trying to upload a HIGH QUALITY video version of Carol and Paul’s Wedding for the site. I’ve been testing other video sharing sites to see which of them offers the best resolution but progress has been slow since it’s so time consuming to upload large video files. I’m at least a month, or 2, away from figuring out which site I’m going to use and which is the best method to obtain the highest resolution possible. A couple of the videos I’m putting up this week will be from the sites I’m planning use for the wedding videos.

FAMILY NEWS

August has been incredibly busy and the month isn’t even half over yet! Baby Emma and Baby Devin will be going home this week. And Paul and Carol will also be coming back from the islands as husband and wife. Also happening this month, Nic’s first day of high school, the beginning of Jon’s senior year of high school, Diego, Jen and family head out to Nicauragua, Ethel and I attend an alternative lifestyle wedding, Mellie, Rod and posse will be checkin’ out the Rib Festival in Reno and Gabe will represent the World Champion ChampCast Waves at what will probably be the most controversial WFFL draft ever.

Today is my first day back at work since vacation. You know the feeling, the knot in your stomach right before you open your email or check your voicemail messages. This is always a dreaded day for everyone and there is nothing that can be done about it, or is there. Most people don’t LOVE their jobs, they may like what they do, or like how much they’re paid, but there are not too many people who really love what they do and are able to make their living doing it. For the rest of us, in order to deal with the Back to Work Blues, this is what I do.

To me the first day back at work is your excuse to “goof off” and do whatever it is you need to do to get through the day. I usually like to make sure everybody knows I’m tired because it’s my first day back and if you came back from a place that’s in a different time zone, even better. Once the word gets out everyone will understand why you’re not as productive as you normally would be. Then do all the things you like to do at work…and do that ONLY. If surfing the net is something you love to do, do it, shop at Ebay, book a mini-trip on Expedia, search future vacation spots, plan your grocery list at Safeway.com, or post a column at AS.com. Or make extra trips to the coffee bar, experiment with different coffees and teas. And Hangout at the watercooler. But the most important thing to do is this…don’t look at your watch. If you can, keep it at home and use your cellphone or computer when you need to know the time of day. If all that doesn’t work, you are too tired to work and should go home. Call it a day and go home using a reason that would get you in the least amount of trouble with your boss.
Good Luck.

Welcome to the World Baby Emma!!!!!!!!!!!!

This morning at 12:13am, Baby Emma was born and mother and daughter are doing fine and resting now. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

HPIM3212
The waiting room was filled from wall to wall with AS.com members all day and night, while we waited for updates from anxious and expecting dad, Gabe.

HPIM3216
After hearing that momma was fully dialated and pushing, we all stood by with anticipation.

HPIM3217
Then a little after 12:13am, Gabe, who was holding a box of cigars, and Ryan came out of the room and announced that Emma had finally arrived.

HPIM3221
Momma and Emma.
